cornettist Ruby Braff and I at the (Arbors Records') March of Jazz in Clearwater, FL, 2002. He passed away in 2003.

Ruby is one of my favorite all-time musicians. We became friends shortly after I moved to New York. I was thrilled (and terrified!) when he asked me to play on a few of his Arbors recording sessions and at the March of Jazz fest.

I was asked by producer/guitarist Mike Peters to do a Remembering Ruby show for Sirius Satellite Radio about a month after Ruby's death, so I got together some musicians who had played with him and wrote out some of his original tunes and arrangements. We played live in the studio, and Mike interviewed each of us, asking us to share anecdotes about Ruby. The music we made that day is available on my "Remembering Ruby" CD, available from me, World's Records, or eBay.
